The event was the celebration of the completed life of Wendy Hockley. Wendy was the seven year old daughter of Elaine and Len Hockley. The Hockley family was interning in the Order when it was discovered that Wendy had a brain tumor and she passed away on February 4 of 1967.

Her memorial service was held in the Great Hall on the West Side campus where the Congolese Cross for the first time was used as an order symbol. Also the double St Andrews Cross was used for the first time on the reredose to symbolize the Word and the Deed.

The use of the double St Andrew's cross for the Word and Deed came out of a article that Joe Pierce just had published in the winter issue of Image. The article is attached.
