The Daily Office of the Solitaries
This is a particular form of what we called the Solitary Office that I encountered in Chicago around 1966. Since I was part of the Movemental Order (as opposed to the Residential Order) at that time, I had only occasional opportunities to practice the longer corporate ritual with the resident members of the community at the start of their day. Between 1966 and 1971 (at which point in time Roxana and I also became part of the Residential Order), this Solitary Office was my way of rehearsing TWLI on a daily basis. It was, you might say, a way of practicing mindfulness, of reminding myself of the larger community in which I participated, even when I was not in the same physical space as it was.
So far as I know, the rendering below is of the only copy of this that I ever had. Pretty faded and dog eared from long usage, I know, but hopefully still readable.
