-- NancyTrask - 20 Oct 2006 "Courage to Care" produced by Dick Young Productions, Ltd. This film about community development & the International Exposition of Rural Development was written & produced by Dick Young & his associates, but the project was shepherded along by the team of Rick Jones, Sunny Walker & me. We lived in Chicago & traveled to New York off & on for 6 months to do the work of ICA coordination, i.e. trying to create the film as a meaningful portrayal of our work. Our assignment was made easier because Raymond Spencer had already negotiated with Dick Young to produce the film. Dick had produced numerous award-winning documentaries for UNICEF & others. Courage to Care was another award-winner -- a CINE Golden Eagle.

One of our early tasks was to tie down a narrator. We thought our narrator should be British in order to represent our international character. Our short list included Richard Attenborough, Glenda Jackson, & Jeremy Irons. Attenborough was working in NY on "A Chorus Line," which made him somewhat accessible, since he came frequently to NY. Furthermore, Ben Kingsley, his star in the recent Gandhi film, had narrated our previous film "The World of Human Development." I contacted Attenborough's assistant numerous times without being turned down, & she finally told me he would narrate for us! Sir James had made a personal contact in London that sealed the deal.
